Benoid

Benoid is a fictional android from ID Comics, created by Jacob Crane, who first appeared in the pages of 'The Liberty Guild.' When the Plutonian Patrolman was thrown into an alternate dimension by the detonation of a Hydrogen Bomb, he found himself on another Earth, where the world had been ravaged by nuclear war when the Cuban Missle Crisis had turned violent. The only sentient being the Patrolman sensed on this dead Earth was Benoid, an android created by the alternate Natthew A.P. Tarte. Benoid had lived alone on this world for ten years, and accepted the Patrolman's offer to return with him to his un-harmed Earth. After coming to this new dimension, Benoid travelled the world, experiencing the vibrant, living cultures of humans everywhere. Vowing to protect the people he had already seen destroyed once before, Benoid became a crime fighter in Century City. He often teamed up with the Liberty Guild to fight larger threats, such as the World Eater, which threatened to consume all of Earth. Rather than see his home die again, Benoid flew into space and inside the monster. There, he detonated his atomic core, destroying the World Eater and sacrificing himself to save Earth.
