Object of the game

To get EXACTLY 12 resource points of EACH resource.

Resource Points

A card has a number of resource points equal to the number on the card. A 10 has 10 resource points, a 5 has 5, etc.

Components

4 Resource types, numbered 1-10. 12 Special Event cards.

Setup

Each player is dealt 6 cards.

The player who most recently had a birthday starts first. (In the unlikely event of a tie, you should probably go out and do something more interesting).

Turn order

  1. Draw two cards.
  2. Trade
  3. Use a Special Effect card. (optional)

Draw two cards

A player draws two cards and puts them in his/her hand. If there are no cards left, the game ends immediately.

Trading

The player whose turn it is proposes a deal involving any two or more points of ONE resource. The other players make an offer (again of ONE kind of resource) that is greater than the amount (in points) offered. However, the counter-offer must not be more than half again the amount originally offered (rounded down). This kind of trade is potlatching, and is not allowed. If no one accepts the deal, the original player may offer one additional deal.

Example: John offers six points of luxuries. Someone can offer in response at least seven (of any kind of resource, including luxuries), or up to nine points (but not 10). A person offering 10 points must get at least 11 but no more than 15 back.

Special Effect cards

If a player draws a special effect card, he may use it at the end of his turn. He may only use ONE card per turn.

End of the game

The game ends after the deck is exhausted OR someone has EXACTLY 12 points of resources in each of the four resource types at the end of a turn. If there is a tie, the person with the most cards wins.

To reveal that you have fulfilled the victory conditions, you must indicate that you have done so. Then everyone has an opportunity to verify your hand. If you do not have it, play continues as normal.

If multiple players have fulfilled the victory conditions before the end of the game, only the first to claim victory wins.

If no one has fulfilled the victory conditions, the person with the most groups of resources that contain exactly 12 points. (Ties are broken by number of cards, as above.)
